Educator Resources
Information and tools for teaching success
Manitoba Education and Early Childhood Learning has developed and collected a library of resources for K to 12 educators. These tools will give educators a framework of principles to guide their teaching and the resources necessary to teach confidently on new platforms. They also provide an introduction to the concept of blended learning.

Manitoba’s learning management system
Manitoba Education and Early Childhood Learning provides a license for a learning management system (LMS) called Brightspace, available to all K to 12 teachers. Brightspace is an educational tool that houses web-based courses and can support classroom teaching, teach students outside of the classroom, and can be used to blend the two approaches. It features a range of tools that include:
-
- Interactive teaching aids that can be used to create engaging, innovative learning experiences.
- Space to post lessons and other course materials, convenient to students, where and when they need it.
- Communication channels that help build connections between students as well as enabling teachers, students, and families to stay in touch.
Brightspace is used by the University of Manitoba, University of Winnipeg, Red River College, and University College of the North. By collaborating with D2L, Manitoba Education and Early Childhood Learning is positioning students to be comfortable learning on this platform and prepare for the post-secondary learning environment.
